SomoS warmly welcomes you to “Back in Five,” the first German solo exhibition of Hamburg-based Russian artist Anastasia Antipova, on Saturday, February 10, from 6 – 9 pm.
Antipova invites us to explore an immersive cocoon-like installation on themes of connection and communication, an imaginary laboratory in which paintings, sculpture, sound design, and video magically converge into a tactile, introspective ambiance.
With her stark aesthetic, Antipova challenges traditional female representations, delving into womanhood, relationships, and the search for a sense of security with imagination and verve.
Her artistic narrative is profoundly shaped by the backdrop of war and the current political climate in Russia, marked by challenges in accessing information and a lack of freedom of artistic expression. These experiences infuse her art with a poignant urgency, rendering her work not only a personal exploration but also a commentary on contemporary societal issues.
